Washington Open Exhibition 2022: Spotlight

Life’s entrances and exits. Apart from the obvious beginning and end of life, is everything else subjective to an entrance or an exit? Do we really know whether a door is opening or closing?

In the moment, getting sacked from a job might feel like a door closing (an exit) but in fact leads to a door opening (an entrance) to bigger and better things. This happens every day in life and we may only realise an exit wasn’t an exit upon reflection years later. Moments in life initially perceived as failures can later be deemed as steppingstones to success.

The artwork uses abstract geometric forms taken from the Fibonacci sequence to create a connection between perception and reality. The pieces intend to lead you into and around life’s journey whilst questioning individual perspective.
